I'm Not Complaining Anymore!

The above pictures are from last week. I spent Tuesday and Wednesday cooking. I prepared about 8 meals for our freezer.

These two pictures are from yesterday's snow. The patio is a build up of the past couple of snows. The cars were cleaned off yesterday, and then this was on them again. last night.

This week I've been cleaning in the basement. Since we've been doing our reconstruction, it's sort of become the dumping ground. Unfortunately, it's also my office and the girls' playroom. And today, I might work in the pantry. I just haven't decided yet.

It's been another very busy week around here. Out of the house, EVERY SINGLE DAY for something. Visiting gramma, OT, Speech Therapy, Ballet, Gymnastics, Violin and Piano. Somewhere Every. Sinkin'. Day. There is a light at the end of the tunnel, though I'm not real thrilled about it. Our violin teacher is resigning. The girls love violin, and love her, but we're currently not planning on resuming. We are going to attempt to move piano lessons to closely follow OT, or closely precede visiting gramma. Maybe THEN, we'll have a day (or two, if it's not too much to ask!) at home.

Today I cleaned out our library. UGH What a job that is! Someday, when I can reconfiscate my camera, I'll post pictures of them. But in the cleaning out of it, I discovered some great books that would make good unit studies. Or at least some nice extended learnings. So I found my favorite lapbooking site and did some cross checking. I'm going to making lapbooks here soon. Lots of them! I can't wait to get started. The girls love them, and it allows me a great creative outlet.

I'm sitting here in my chair wondering what fun stuff we'll do this weekend. Well, besides grocery shopping, laundry, and grading papers. Probably not much. Oh, I will finish up the girls' mini office lapbooks. They are larger lapbooks with lots of facts in them. Piper's has the continents with their countries in them so she can start learning some geograpy, a list of presidents, a periodic table, multiplication tables, roman numerals and a really cool target digram that describes where we live. Zoie's has letters and sounds, sight words (for which I have pictures), addition and subtraction tables, colors/words and numbers/words. I'll try to post pictures when I get them done.

Right now, my biggest struggle is Piper's organizational skills. They are NonExistent. And extremely frustrating for me. I have her school work divided into five folders; 1 for each day of the week. And she still gets confused and loses stuff. I finally got all the textbooks de-spined because I'd rather her lose a page, than the whole book. I am working on helping her, but it is SO FRUSTRATING.

I obviously need to spend MORE time going through her papers. Today, she told me she was done. As I went through her folders for the week, I found quite a bit of unfinished work. Some of it was the back of the page, some of it was just not done. Of course, this put her in a bad mood. And she didn't want to do science because the animals were gross (jellyfish, mollusks, earthworms,etc). Sorry, still has to be done!

Overall, not a BAD week, but really not a great one. HOpefully, next week will be better, maybe even great!

I got lucky today. There was Law & Order SVU marathon going, so I shut myself in my office/classroom/basement/laundryroom, and worked. All Day. And I got a TON done. I got last week's work graded and next weeks work ready, got through several other things on my todo list, and got several loads of laundry done. And I gave my blog a MAJOR overhaul. Tomorrow's agenda includes more laundry, packing for a short trip, and assembling a couple of lapbooks for the girls. That, of course, includes laminating, cutting, pasting, and a gazillion other minute tasks. But for now, I must sign off and share some family time; Pizza and a movie.

My Blogging Resolution

If you tried to follow my other blog, you probably noticed that I haven't posted on it for a while. For QUITE awhile. Like over a year. And while it's been a VERY busy year, I've still had random thoughts that I wish I'd had time to write about. Things about marriage, parenting, homeschooling, homemaking, and life in general. I also like the accountability that it provides me. If I have to publish it, I'll be much more likely to actually follow through.

So onward and upward! As I develop my new and improved Blog!
